Flash 24: And their Eyes were Opened.
The story of the fall offers many profound insights, but today I want to focus particularly on how knowledge influences our consciousness. We live in an age overflowing with information, where all type of knowledge multiplies by the day. Thanks to technological advancements, accessing this wealth of information has never been easier. Through mainstream media, social networks, and alternative platforms, we are bombarded with a relentless stream of data. On the other hand slogans like "knowledge is power" drive us to pursue information, often in a quest to validate our superiority. Ultimately we find ourselves in a loop of either being chased or chasing information.
However, in our fervor for knowledge, we frequently overlook its profound impact on our consciousness. We consume information indiscriminately, failing to consider the conciousness that is being awakened, shaped or established within us through such information. Many a life has been destroyed simply by exposure to certain knowledge that broke, darkened or corrupted their consciousness. Consider an individual who becomes ensnared by pornographic content; it were far better for him to remain 'blind' than for his consciousness to be awakened to such realities. Or consider a young child watching news and having to see people being gruesomely killed based on their religious beliefs or political affiliations.
It is crucial to acknowledge that while knowledge can enlighten us, not all knowledge serves our best interests. Some knowledge is only powerful in the sense that it is able to corrupt us deeply. There is a knowledge that seems right to a man but its end is destruction.
Sometimes, be content in not having your eyes opened.
I share these thoughts as parables for reflection.
Proverbs 22:12
[12]The eyes of the Lord keep guard over knowledge and him who has it, but He overthrows the words of the treacherous.
1 Corinthians 14:20
[20]Brethren, do not be children [immature] in your thinking; continue to be babes in [matters of] evil, but in your minds be mature [men].
Thanks Debby for this special dedication.
